financial checkup #1

I'm looking at my spending for last month because I know I spent a ton of money, more than usual. I've been avoiding looking at it.

DESCRIPTION

Fidelity, my fav

Most of it was on food. i bought lunch at work almost 4x a week because there's a cafe outside my office. I always wake up and think that I wont be hungry till i get home at 5, so I don't bring anything but coffee. Then I get to work and I'm hungry so I buy breakfast or lunch. Or maybe go to Chick-fil-a after work since it's very filling.

My normal monthly spending is like $400 total. That's how much I spent just on FOOD in February. Honestly, my monthly spending should be like $200 for gas and subscriptions, as someone with no responsibilities and no rent. Maybe an extra $100 for my student loans.

I surprisingly didn't gain weight last month, because eating only one 1600 calorie Chick-fil-a meal for the day actually helps me loose weight. My maintenance is like 2400.

This month I already found I've been spending alot as well. The money I'm using is from a pool of money i received last year. A refund for a cancelled trip. I'm trying to stretch that refund as long as possible.

The stress of me quitting my job this year is making me spend more, especially on food. Or maybe I'm getting too comfortable as a i reach my spending goal. If I'm able to save the entirety of my March paychecks, I will reach my 1 year savings goal. Then I'll keep working till July and put all my April-July savings in a brokerage and towards my student loans.

Times like this make me wish I had a family and get to manage the family budget, i really enjoy it. Despite all the food spending, I'm still on track as i have the refund money buffer. My mom manages hers and my dads finances. I wanna be able to do that too. She said I'm doing pretty good so I'll be set if i do eventually have a family who's finances I have to manage :)
