BOOKS
ⓘ my high school made us read these banned books!Assassin's-final-job story. It gets kinda Hollywood-ish with the characterization of some female characters, but it was pretty good.
I honestly don't remember the plot, but i remember it being really good. Amazon says "A man joins an illegal cloning experiment..."
Enticing...
A story about racial injustice in the Deep South through the eyes of a young girl, as her lawyer father, Atticus Finch, defends a black man falsely accused of rape. Sad. A classic.

A story about the Black (American) identity, systemic racism, and social invisibility through a nameless narrator. Taking place in the 20th century. I was assigned this book for a project and was the only one in the group who read it. Very well written.

A classic book banned by many classrooms in the US. A story about an Afghani boy and his life and trauma. Read the warnings if needed. Please.

MOVIES
Classic pixar movie. My comfort movie. I remember watching a pirated version of it in 2011 or so on my dad's computer, and I was cracking up. I've gotten most of the script in my head.
"Based on the experiences of Agu, a child fighting in the civil war of a West African country. Follows Agu’s journey as he’s forced to join a group of soldiers."
⚠︎ Very disheartening movie!
A stupid movie about detectives opening up a lobster restaurant. It's a comedy from mainland China. I watched on a whim on an illegal site. Ended up laughing a ton. Film lovers wouldn't like it. Movie lovers would like it.
Sweet and silly Korean movie about a Ghost that helps a police officer solve a crime.
Has the lighskin king Michael B. Jordan. It's a wonderful movie about the supernatural mixed with the history in the Mississippi Delta. I watched it in theatres and I cried and Laughed and was in awe. There's one really cool scene that pulls you in, especially in you know about music culture. You'll know if you watch it.
SHOWS
I'd run out of stars honestly. This was my first anime back in 2016 when only half of it was out. I dropped it because of the gore (i was 13). I picked it back up TEN years later in December 2025/January 2026 and wow. Definitely a top 10 in the Best media I've every watched. I can talk about it all day. The season 4 final opening is a daily song for me, I sing it all the time.
Heartbreaking. A story about a young boy who's had a hard life, set in NYC. There are entertaining parts of it, but it left such a profound impact on my life that i stopped watching anime for about 3 years after i finished it back in high school. I watched it when i was the same age as the main character, Ash.
⚠︎ might wanna read the warnings if you're a softie.
One of the few shows I rewatch often. This is a Netflix show based in Michigan, USA. 3 moms get into a bit of trouble. It's a bit realistic and reminds me of the struggles of the lower-middle class in the Midwest.
If you like Bojack Horesman, you'll like Archer. It's similar in the way it has crass humor, but it takes thing way less seriously. It's like Bojack with fewer lessons learned.
Another classic one. Like anyone really into anime probably knows this and you've probably heard some of the sound track or the memes from this show. I've watched it 3 times. I made my baby sister watch it as well and she liked it! A great introduction to the genre of psychological thrillers.
